'Friends' star Matthew Perry was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Saturday, according to multiple news reports. He was 54.

According to TMZ and other reports, Perry appears to have died of accidental drowning in his hot tub. Emergency personnel had reportedly been called to his home to respond to a possible cardiac arrest.

Perry had reportedly spent the morning playing pickleball, and his assistant called the police after finding his body at his home a few hours later.

An investigation into how Perry died is ongoing and it may take weeks before his cause of death is determined.

“Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. Television Group family,” the company said in a statement. “The impact of his comedic genius was felt around the world, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many. This is a heartbreaking day, and we send our love to his family, his loved ones, and all of his devoted fans.”

Earlier this year, CBN News reported that Perry shocked the world when he opened up about his years-long battle with heavy drugs and alcohol, revealing details about his road to recovery. A heartfelt prayer to God had played a key role in finally freeing him from his addictions.
