A Special Delivery of Hope

In 2020, when army specialist, Sean, left for 9 months, he and his fiancé, Allyssa, had no idea his deployment would turn into a two year separation. Alyssa explained, “It just got more and more frustrating as to what we were allowed to be able to plan for the wedding.”

Sean finally made it home and surprised Allyssa. The couple married. Then, Alyssa was expecting and diagnosed with a high risk pregnancy and had to quit her job, leaving the couple to depend on one income. Sean said, “It is definitely tight on a specialist's salary. I'm not making a whole bunch.”

Their situation was so desperate, Sean started donating plasma to bring in extra income. That helped, until their budget took a large hit when Alyssa’s car needed new tires. Then, Sean’s car was stolen. A check from their insurance was not enough to buy another vehicle. Sean said, "What's going through my head is just a sense of worry. As being the man of the household, being the provider, I feel torn because I feel like I have failed myself. And ultimately that makes me feel like I failed her.” Alyssa added, "I do know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. There is going to be a way out of this situation.”

The couple attends Manna Church in El Paso, who contacted CBN’s Helping The Home Front. Pastor Ryan Woodcraft had some good news for Sean and Alyssa. “CBN is going to provide you $1,000 worth of commissary cards specifically to help you get started with your baby supplies. CBN is also going to reimburse you for those tires so you can put that back into your savings account.”

And there was an even bigger surprise. Pastor Woodcraft continued, “We really feel that you need two reliable vehicles. We're going to take you down to Casa Buick GMC here in El Paso, and their staff is standing by for you to select the vehicle that CBN is going to pay for you.”

“I'm speechless. I'm just completely astonished,” Sean reacted, happily surprised. Alyssa added, “I'm grateful 'cause I definitely did not expect this at all.” Sean continued, “That relieves a huge burden.”

The couple headed to the dealership to pick out a reliable vehicle. A few months later, they celebrated the arrival of their daughter, Aurora. Sean concluded, “There aren't really any words that I can – that I can use to describe how I feel, but it definitely takes a lot off my chest. I'm also very grateful for the CBN partners who have donated their, their time, their money into allowing families like mine to prosper.”
