'Drinkable Book' Filters Water, Teaches Safe Habits
08-20-2015
Books are usually for reading, but there's one out there specifically for filtering water.
It's called The Drinkable Book, and it's providing access to purified water for people in developing countries where clean water is scarce.
The filter paper prevents any bacteria in the water from entering through and the content on each page teaches about safe water habits.
It costs only pennies to produce. Each filter can supply up to 30 days of clean water and the book can last for up to four years.
The Drinkable Book is an initiative of the group Water Is Life, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Virginia.
