Lawmaker Pushes to Protect Officials from a Kim Davis Scenario

A Republican lawmaker in Virginia is pushing legislation to protect local elected officials who object to same-sex marriage on moral or religious grounds.
State Sen. Charles Carrico says many of his constituents are concerned about what happened to county clerk Kim Davis in Kentucky.
Davis spent five days in jail last year for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Sen. Carrico says voters have asked him to help Virginia officials who are put in the same position.
Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe has already vowed to veto the bill if it passes Virginia's GOP-controlled General Assembly.
