Mr. Phillip D. Walker

Phil Walker retired as Senior Vice-President for Branch Banking and Trust Co., BB&T now Truist, one the nation’s largest bank holding companies, headquartered in North Carolina where he completed a forty-one year career in Corporate Banking.

A native of Tryon, N.C., Phil graduated from Western Carolina University where he later served as Chairman of the WCU Board of Trustees and Chairman of the WCU Foundation.

From 2011-2015 Phil was appointed by the North Carolina Senate to the University of North Carolina System Board of Governors responsible for governing 17 campuses, 225,000 students, and over 14,000 faculty.

He presently serves as Chairman of Regent University Board of Trustees, a private Christian higher education institution founded by Dr. Pat Robertson. 

Other community activities include former member of the Hickory Regional Planning Commission, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Regional Team and presently a member of Central Church of Charlotte, N.C. 

Throughout his career, working with various church denominations and lay organizations, Phil has had one on one opportunities to share his faith with various community, corporate, and government leaders. 

He is married to Joan Knipe Walker, a retired residential contractor, and they have two adult children and two grandchildren.
