Fourteen people are dead and six wounded after Taliban attackers stormed a guesthouse in Kabul, Afghanistan.
A senior Afghan government official has confirmed nine foreigners were killed in Wednesday's assault.
The gunmen stormed a restaurant inside the Park Palace Hotel in the Afghan capital as it was hosting a party for foreigners.
The hours-long siege ended early Thursday morning, with police rescuing 54 hostages.
"Our thoughts are with the families of the victims at this time," U.S. Embassy spokeswoman Monica Cummings told AFP. "Out of respect for the families of those killed, we have no further information at this time."
