VA Democrat Indicted on 82 Felony Charges, Election Fraud to Appear in Court Aug. 12
The trial of a longtime Democrat county supervisor in Virginia facing numerous charges is set to begin on Aug. 12.
Trey Adkins, the current Knox District supervisor for Buchanan County, Virginia was arrested in May of 2022 after being indicted on 82 felony charges, including 34 counts of false statement – election fraud, according to media reports.
Prosecutors at the time said he allegedly showed up at the homes of voters with absentee ballot applications and ballots to ensure he would have their vote, MSN reported.
In addition, a grand jury also indicted Adkins on 11 counts of absentee voting procedure violations, 11 counts of forgery of a public record, 15 counts of uttering public record, 8 counts of public embezzlement, and 3 counts of conspiracy to make a false statement – election fraud.
Adkins had been under investigation by Virginia State Police for over two years, according to WJHL-TV.
Last June, Adkins' name was on the ballot for reelection. However, the Democrat switched parties and won the Republican primary defeating challenger Pamela Wilson in a quest to keep his seat, the outlet reported.
Adkins' name will appear on the ballot in the general election this November.
He told WJHL-TV after winning the primary that he plans to appeal if he is convicted. He has served as the Knox District supervisor for the county for the past 12 years.
