KY Senate Advances Religious Protections for Businesses
02-26-2016
The Kentucky state Senate is advancing a bill that protects the religious freedom of businesses that decline to provide services for gay and transgender events.
The measure would protect religious business owners from being targeted for choosing their faith over violating their convictions.
The bill comes after a Christian T-shirt company was ordered to undergo diversity training for declining to print shirts for a gay pride festival.
A state judge overturned that order, but an appeals court is reviewing the case.
Georgia and Mississippi are considering similar measures to protect the religious liberties of businesses.
