Big surf is picking up in Hawaii as Hurricane Ignacio moves closer to the islands. The Category 2 storm, with winds up to 100 miles per hour, is continuing to weaken.

Although Hawaii has missed the brunt of Ignacio, residents still can't let their guard down. Right behind Ignacio is Hurricane Jimena, a Category 4 storm that forecasters expect will start weakening as it approaches Hawaii.

Ignacio was a Category 4, but shrunk to a Category 2 when moving closer to the Hawaiian islands.

A rare meteorological event of three Category 4 hurricanes -- Kilo, Ignacio, and Jimena -- occurred over the weekend. It was the first recorded occurrence of three Category 4 hurricanes in the Pacific at the same time.
