Mainstream Media in the Tank for Clinton? Pence Sounds Off

GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- In this crucial battleground state of Pennsylvania, GOP vice presidential nominee Mike Pence traveled to Gettysburg to make his best pitch.

"America needs to be strong," Pence told hundreds gathered in a hotel ballroom. "When Donald Trump becomes president, we will lead with strength on the world stage."

With a month to go before Election Day, Pence and the Trump campaign have some hard work ahead of them. Pence told CBN News they're not just fighting against the Clinton/Kaine ticket.

"It's been amazing to me," he said. "I've always been aware of liberal media bias during the course of my career, but I have to tell you since I joined this campaign, it's like two on one everyday, with the mainstream national media doing half of Hillary Clinton's work for her everyday."

Pence said they will need to work harder and go straight to the voters, especially in blue states like Pennsylvania where they might change some minds.

Undecided voter Tyler Molison said he likes what Pence brings to the ticket.

"I think Trump has good intentions," Molison told CBN News. "Pence was good at laying out a vision... I think yes... He helps to calm some of the voters who aren't quite as easy."

From now until November, you'll see Pence in places like Gettysburg because of the high number of white blue collar voters -- exactly the type of folks the Trump/Pence ticket needs on Election Day. And they are also working to convince evangelicals that Donald Trump can be trusted on issues important to them.

"When it comes issues like the sanctity of life, I couldn't be more proud to be standing with Donald Trump, the pro-life candidate for president of the United States in this race," Pence told CBN News.

He assured CBN News viewers that Trump would make good on his pro-life commitment.

"I can assure you I have heard him in public and I have heard him in private and that Donald Trump is committed to the sanctity of life," Pence said.

Another concern is whether enough conservative evangelicals will show up on Election Day. Pence has some biblical advice for the flock.

"I truly do believe that part of how we submit to the authorities that are over us in that biblical admonition is for us to participate, to be informed," he said. "However, your vote is your choice."

Whatever the outcome, Pence believes the country needs a spiritual jolt.

"It's an important time for us to pray, and I believe what has always been true and is still true today -- that if his people who are called by his name will humble themselves and pray that he'll again hear from heaven and he'll heal our land," Pence said.
