The Power of a Child’s Prayer

Aashi said, “Khushi’s prayer gave me hope.”

Munna said, “Khushi’s prayer worked and I studied well.”

Seema said, “I was blessed with a baby girl from Khushi’s prayer.”

Ravinder said, “Khushi’s prayer encouraged me.”

It may sound like they’re talking about a pastor or evangelist, but the people you just heard are talking about a 10-year-old girl. Khushi is part of an after-school-program run by Orphan’s Promise. One of the many activities here is watching regular showings of CBN’s SuperBook. This is where Khushi learned to be a prayer warrior.

Khushi explained, “I love to watch SuperBook episodes. SuperBook and the teachers here taught me to believe in God and pray for everyone.”

Khushi was moved by the SuperBook stories she saw. She started praying with her parents. Khushi's teacher visited their house and taught the whole family more about Jesus Christ.

Khushi’s mother, Shivratari, said, “Khushi used to come home and tell us about the SuperBook stories. We learned that Jesus said, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’ I slowly developed faith in God and started meditating on the Word of God. This gave me peace of mind. My husband and I finally decided to receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.”

After seeing the changes in her own family, Khushi started praying for other people.

Khushi said, “My neighbor’s daughter was depressed and worried, because she was married, but had no baby. I felt bad for her, so I started to pray for her, because that’s what SuperBook taught me to do.”

Seema said, “I was married for eight years, but I never had a baby. People said such bad things about me that I avoided going out, or I didn’t want to talk to anyone. Then I was blessed with a beautiful baby girl. I thank God for this miracle, and I thank Khushi for praying for me.”

Through SuperBook and the after-school-program, Khushi’s faith and her prayer life continued to grow.

Khushi explained, “We lived in a slum, and one day, I heard that our home was going to be demolished, so I prayed.”

The family enrolled in a government-run housing assistance program, even though they knew very few families were helped through the program.

Shivratari said, “We all prayed for a home.  Our family was chosen, and God blessed us with a brand-new house.”

Khushi said, “I was so happy and excited when I saw our own home, and I thanked God for this beautiful gift.”

Khushi is learning to play the piano and wants to become a gospel singer to spread the Word of God.

“I enjoy playing piano for God’s glory, and I love worshipping Jesus Christ,” said Khushi.

Wherever faith takes this young prayer warrior, she’ll always know her journey began with the Orphan’s Promise after-school-program and SuperBook.

Khushi said, “I’m so happy that SuperBook has given me and my family a beautiful life filled with joy and peace. Thank you so much, SuperBook.”
