A new film about the life and faith of Rachel Joy Scott, a student killed 17 years ago during the mass shooting at Columbine High School in Colorado, hits theaters Oct. 21.

The movie is based on a journal Scott, a teen from Littleton, Colorado, kept during high school.

"I've always been drawn to hands. I think it's because it's the way we touch people," Scott wrote. "If one person could go out of their way to show compassion, it could start a chain reaction."

The movie is produced by Pure Flix, and stars Masey McLain, Ben Davies, Sadie Robertson, Korie Robertson, Jaci Velasquez, and Jennifer O'Neill

"I'm Not Ashamed" is being called "a hope-filled reminder that when we put our lives in God's hands, we can make a world of difference."
