From Debt to Triumph: Witness Dao’s Debt-Free Miracle

Grandma Dao has been helping to raise her grandson, but there is rarely enough for their daily needs. She says, “I love my grandson very much.”

One day, when they ran out of food, Grandma Dao was forced to sell the tools she used to work on construction sites to buy food. “That was very hard for me. My tools are important. We shared some small fish and rice for a few days,” shares Grandma Dao.

Her grandson Mix tries to be brave. He says, “When we don’t have anything to eat, my stomach hurts, but I don’t tell her.”

Grandma Dao was finally forced to borrow money from a loan shark to start a food cart business selling chicken. She was only able to make a few dollars a day and soon her debt mushroomed to nearly 600 dollars. Grandma Dao says, “I could only afford to pay interest on the loan. I wondered how I would ever get out of debt. I felt so hopeless.”

Then CBN’s Orphan’s Promise gave Grandma Dao some food. They also trained her how to manage a business –including saving and paying down debt. Then they helped her to expand the business by providing extra supplies and ingredients so she could add new items to the menu. Finally, they gave her a large new umbrella for her food cart.

Grandma Dao’s earnings have increased to more than fifteen dollars a day and she has paid off her debts. “I feel like I can breathe now. Our lives have turned around completely. You invested in me and in my grandson’s future. I thank you from the bottom of my heart,” reveals Grandma Dao.
