Safe Housing Came Through Generous Support

Lilian is a single mother raising three children in Iquitos, Peru. A few years ago, a strong storm destroyed part of the roof and walls of her home. “One of my goals has been to fix my house,” she told us. “But I cannot make repairs AND provide food for my children. As it is they only eat twice a day, sometimes only once a day.”

During the rainy season the family struggled to stay dry, especially when they slept.

Lilian’s son Luciano always worried what the next storm would bring. “When the wind and rains come, our beds and clothes get soaked. And I worry that one of the main beams will break and fall on us when we’re sleeping,” said Luciano.

“We only live in one part of the house covered by half a roof,” added Lilian. “And we have no security. I can’t leave the children when I have to go out.”

Then, thanks to YOU, Operation Blessing came and built Lilian a new house with sturdy walls and roof. We also provided beds, a kitchen and furniture.

“In my new house, we are protected,” said the grateful mom. “Now I am calm. I know my children are safe and comfortable in in their beds. I can’t say thank you enough for everything you did for my family!”
