Charles Stuart Platkin, J.D., M.P.H. is one of the country's leading public health advocates, whose syndicated nutrition and fitness column, "The Diet Detective" appears in more than 165 daily newspapers across the country. Platkin is also the founder of the health and fitness network, DietDetective.com, with thousands of original articles on subjects ranging from walking to in-depth investigations of food labeling.
DietDetective.com also offers daily news on nutrition and fitness and a social networking community where individuals can lose weight and get in shape together by forming groups and clubs, or working one-on-one.
He is the founder of The Institute for Nutrition & Behavioral Sciences, a non-profit organization that conducts obesity-related research. He received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, a Juris Doctorate from Fordham University, and a Masters in Public Health from Florida International University. He is also a certified personal trainer and is currently completing his PhD in Public Health. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Robert Stempel School of Public Health at Florida International University in Miami.
Platkin is also the founder of Integrated Wellness Solutions, and author five books including the bestselling book, Breaking the Pattern (Plume, 2005).
