Display of Splendor

CBN.com - Oh the magnificence of God, the wonderful grandeur of His heavenly kingdom! Did you know that among all the celestial heavens and stars, and the beautiful earth with its rolling hills, deep valleys, and lofty mountains, God also calls those who are righteous His very own workmanship, the display of His splendor?

The Lord wants to show His great brightness and vast beauty, which attracts admiration and attention. The presence of the Lord outshines the usual. By all means, God’s glory is impressive, brilliant, excellent, and grand! So shouldn’t we want to show that radiance to all the people in the world who desperately need to know what they are missing?

Every time you go to see a display of fireworks, can’t you just hear the oohs and aahs from the audience? Every year don’t you wonder if this year’s fireworks display will be bigger and better than last year’s? There is just something about seeing the colors and designs that light up the sky. It is a breathtaking sight.

Imagine the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Creator of heaven and earth taking such time and effort to give a more excellent visual of grandeur. He created the stars to splash across a darkened night, the sun to warm and light the day, the wind to cool us, and the rain to refresh us and to help the flowers grow, so that our world would have beautiful color.

Imagine this same God in all His Majesty saying that He wants to bestow on you and me the vast wealth of this kingdom, and that we could live forever with Him for eternity. This can be our reality.

There are so many who are in despair. They grieve over the state that they find themselves in and they long for more, maybe just a moment of something grand. This King welcomes those souls into His kingdom.

The Lord promises to do the following, according to :

provide for those who grieve in Zion -- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor (NIV).
