TobyMac's Moving Pictures

CBN.com For the TobyMac fan who has everything, Forefront Records presents TobyMac: Moving Pictures, a collection of his music videos. The 48-minute DVD contains, for the first time, all of TobyMac’s biggest hits from his earlier days just out of dcTalk to his current veteran status on the CCM scene.

Moving Pictures is one part music video collage. Viewers can see official videos for “Lose My Soul” (featuring Kirk Franklin and Mandisa), “Gone”, “Irene”, “Extreme Days” and more. My personal favorite has always been “Boomin’” with its artistic, urban feel. There is also the comical “Feelin’ So Fly” where TobyMac and friends Thousand Foot Krutch, Family Force Five and Building 429 goof off for the camera lens.

It is also part concert footage. As someone who has seen TobyMac in concert several times, I can testify that there is nothing quite like Mr. Diverse City live. The DVD captures the excitement of a TobyMac concert.  It features live performances from his show in Houston that includes songs such as “The Slam”. I wouldn’t have chosen “Made to Love” to see live; however, Toby and his band light up the night on the adrenaline-fueled “Ignition”, a song I’ve long said is Toby’s best of his lesser known tracks. Viewers also get to go behind the scenes of life on tour with songs like “Get This Party Started” and “Tonight”.

Although the DVD spans backwards from 2010’s Tonight to 2001’s Momentum, it’s interesting to see Toby’s progression as an artist and showman. Viewers can see his music videos getting grander and the production on his music getting sharper. The sum of its parts paints the image of an artist who has only gotten better with time – a feat that is rare in the music world.

Bonus features include special concept videos for “Showstopper” and “City on Our Knees” created by filmmakers inspired by the music.

Moving Pictures is a must-have for serious TobyMac fans and a great introduction to the artist for anyone who has never heard his music.
