Family Meets God Through Medical Emergency
The Bais spent six years and their entire savings trying to conceive before their dream finally came true: Mrs. Bai was pregnant with twins. The couple couldn’t have been happier, until Jiahui and Jiaen were born prematurely.
“Within minutes, the doctor took them to ICU,” Mrs. Bai remembers. “I was so scared that I fainted.”
The twins had lung infections and couldn’t breathe on their own. “It was awful,” Mr. Bai explains. “My babies were tiny and their faces were black. They had serious chest infections and their lungs were failing. They had to stay in an incubator, on ventilation, with lots of tubes.”
The Bais borrowed money from relatives to keep the girls in the hospital under a doctor’s care. Yet, the babies only got worse, and before long, all the borrowed money ran out. A friend suggested that the couple ask Operation Blessing for help.
“Operation Blessing took care of the cost of treatment so my girls could stay in the hospital,” proclaims Mrs. Bai. “They shared God with us and prayed for our babies, too.”
During this time, the Bais started going to church. Mrs Bai says, “The pastor told me, ‘When man is powerless, God shows His strength.’ So, I turned my heart to God and stopped worrying my babies would die. That’s when I knew I really believed in God. He was my rock.”
Mr. Bai adds, “The pastor said God cares for distressed souls, and I started to cry. I confessed my sins to God, and said, ‘Please heal my babies!’ I heard the Holy Spirit say to me, ‘I am a God who has mercy on you. Believe, and don’t be afraid.’ My heart was immediately at peace.”
The couple kept praying, and soon Jiaen and Jiahui began to improve. They’d been in the hospital three months when they were finally able to go home.
Mrs. Bai rejoices, “My girls are alive and healthy. The doctor said this recovery was beyond explanation. But we know it was a miracle from God. Now we bring our daughters to church.”
“God showed us that He is all-powerful,” Mr. Bai concludes. “I thank the Operation Blessing donors for their love. Because of them, our children have life, and my wife and I have new hope for our souls.”
